Welcome to the home of the "Black Widow" 1957 Chevy Project.
I will be posting our adventure of restoring our 1957 Chevy to what I like to call the Black Widow Rat Rod project.
What I am doing is documenting the rebuild and project
of what I call the "Black Widow" project.
My Dad had a 1957 Chevy when he was younger in the late 60's and it was wrecked after an old lady pulled out in front of him. He has always wanted one back since.
Dad purchased the car last year and brought it home. Since then it has become a father and son project, which I am totally excited about, because my dad, is and has been my best friend my entire life. My brother and I have always been close to my dad.
It's a 1957 Chevy 210 Post 2 Door that was purchased for restoration. The project started out with the idea of having a total restoration completed, frame off, and original.
Then after seeing all the cars at Back to the 50's in St. Paul, Minnesota this past year, we said, NO WAY!
Every other 1957 Chevy is either Red, Teal or otherwise, the same old boring looking 1957 Chevy. We wanted this thing to stand out and people to look at it and go, wow, that is original.
So, in my head, and my fathers, we came up with a new idea for the car.
1. Paint - The car will be Flat "rat rod" black.
2. Chrome - Who needs it? That will also be all black.
3. Interior - Black Bucket Seats with yellow trim, Dark Carpet, Back Seat, bench, Black Headliner, Dash will be YELLOW. The doors panels will not be original but with Diamond Plating. inside door handles will be made from Oak by my mother who carves wood. With a Hurst Shifter, with Diamond Plating around the floor, trimmed with Oak. Also, Diamond plating with be embedded in the dash as well.
4. Tires - White Wall tires, with Yellow Rims, with Moon Caps on them.
5. Frame with be from a 1984-1989 C4 Corvette.
6. 9-Inch Ford Rear-end
7. Tubbed out Rear Wheel wells
8. Tinted Windows.
9. 425 Nailhead Buick engine. ( thinking about this one )
